prayer

Prayer never works. As a child, I became aware that prayer did not always work. As I grew older, I noticed that prayer never worked. I prayed for people to overcome Cancer. It never worked. The same survival rates exist for people of all religions and people of no religion…. The Bible makes it apparent that we receive what we ask for ACCORDING TO HIS WILL. If you don’t know His will, you won’t know what to ask for, and consequently, won’t receive anything. If god answers every prayer according to his will (1 John 5:14), then there’s no point in praying because his will is prevalent either way. If he doesn’t answer every prayer according to his will (Matthew 7:7-11), then his omnipotence is questionable because he’s powerless against human petition and is therefore susceptible to persuasion. If, as we’re told, he answers some prayers and not others, he’s incompetent because he answers prayers for new jobs, but disregards children with cancer, amputees, and so on. Briefly, reread the verses. The first one implies that if you were to ask and it isn’t according to his will, he won’t hear you. The second one states that he’ll give his children good things. Tell me then, is healing a child from terminal illness not good? Is giving an amputee his/her legs back not good? Is it somehow better to allow the child to suffer? Is it somehow better to leave the amputee legless? Is it not good to keep a person from sexually assaulting a child? Is it somehow better to let these things happen? This is where prayer becomes pointless. Why can’t the most innocent among us receive good things even without asking? In fact, Jesus left that out! We being “evil” give to our children even when they don’t ask. If god is so much better than we are, what keeps him from doing the same? Why should a child have to pray to god to get him to stop her stepfather from molesting her? A parent provides safety at all costs! Your god can’t even do that.
