Not Sands of IwoJima or Green Berets.
Both made war look like a football game. At Iwo and other islands the press was not allowed ashore for several weeks because it took that long to police the bodies. Those two films did (my opinion) more to obscure and misrepresent what happened and the reasons for the events than most other propaganda and political bull shit.
We Were Soldiers and Saving Private Ryan are well told stories. Both would be my choices for great films.
