There is no difference between a tech and a contract company. The same rules would apply. In fact as a contractor you are technically running your own little company. I mean you do get a business license and all.
So as you can have a tech work directv, dish, and comcast all in the same day. You can have a company contract for 3 different companies to all do dish, directv, comcast or whatever else.
I have one company that I have 3 different contracts for. Just comes down to who is gonna dispatch me to the install. I have no control over who gets the contract nor do I care. All I care about is getting the work.
So I hope that kinda sums it up.
