I'd have to say you have been in the wrong churches. I have never had an experience like that, and certainly do not know where it says either one of the text you inquired about. That may be someone's interpretation of what they read somewhere, but I have never had it laid on my heart like that. John 15:12 says, "This is my commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you." John 3:16 says, " For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." I think that says it all.
