My Dad served in WWII, Korea, and Vietnam... 30 year career Marine. The young who serve now are in a much different military. My Dad never complained about being so far away from us or what he missed (one of my brothers was a month old before my Dad knew he had a son, and he was a year old before my Dad saw him!)
Being the youngest of 6, raised less than 15 miles from Camp Lejeune, I would have to say, that the only thing tougher than a Marine is a Marine wife!
