It can be worse!
I once drove an hour to do a similar customer education & charged the installation company for the service call. At the second stop I found a clearly well done installation with a dead HD DVR. While there the original MASTEC installer arrived because he had been given a list of his installs that needed fixing. Both stops from my list were on his list. He did fine installation.
There was no installer defect but now there were two techs looking to be paid for a non issue truck ride.
