        First thing, make sure you hit all of the retrun active housing (NODE and AMP.) at + 15 dBmV at their input. Start by the NODE and go furthur down the line. On the optical receive unit at the head end it should also receive + 15 dBmV and adjust it output to hit the CMTS at 0 dBmV. When this is done, verify for INGRESS and NOISE coming from all the return. Make sure you do not have to much cablemodem on each return section, that can also give you extra noise.
