While I am not condemming you, I will guess that you did do these things. This is what you have liability insurance for. Now if your deductible is $500 then it is better for you to pay it out of pocket and be done with it. The only way to "recoupe" anything is to get receipts and write it off your taxes. This is called business and because you chose this business to be in, you will have expenses, yes, even damage expenses.
It sounds like you didn't have the money to pay so the prime paid and is deducting it from future payments. Nice of them and you should thank them. But be sure to get receipt(s) for your records/taxes.
