What I do care about is when someone on here makes a definitive statement that is false. Most of the people that come here take anything posted here as GOSPEL, because it came from "THE BAR". I was only providing the correct information as to the use of a SS# for identification when applying for a job in the USA today. If you apply for a job today, you will provide the information required on form I-9, or the employer cannot hire you.
Now if you are a contractor, then you will be required to provide, and certify, the info required on a W-9. You either have to give your TIN (SSN) or a EIN. I don't make this stuff up, the government already made it up!
There is enough misinformation, and outright balderdash on here to sink a carrier battle group. For Christ's sake, people come on here asking for Legal advise!
