I agree that you can do that with a HP spectrum and other equipment, but with the 9581-SST it is not a spectrum analyzer that it uses but a digitizer, so you get the response right a way, you do not have to do a sweep for a certain among of time. I have used all of the equipments you are mentioning in your response, yes they can do all of what is required for the return section of a CATV-HFC system, but I find the Trilithic better that any thing else on the market for now. Does not mean you have to buy the Trilithic equipment. I just mentioned what I use as a example for all the tech that visit this site. This came from a customer of mine that need helo and is located over 2,000 km from my home and I do not think that you can do that with your HP, getting the response on that distance.
