What to do with old TV?

My 5 year old Phillips 42" plasma went funky a few days ago, lines through the picture making it unwatchable. It wasn't a reliable model (had a few problems even new) and only 720p so I went and bought a new LCD, but what do people do with the old ones? Are there any organizations that repair them for charity, or even recycle these things? Just put it out for trash?
