Who's the customer

Since I know I'm not the only prime who reviews this site and I see all the post of installers who feel that they have been so mistreated, of which I'm sure some are true. I'd like to start a new discussion about who is really the customer.

As a prime if I sub work to you as a 1099 sub, that makes me your customer, as such I have contacted your company to provide a service for which I have a need.

As a customer I have a right to say this is the work I'd like done, this is how I would like it to be completed and these are the times that are convenient for me for you to do that work and certainly before I issue any final payment I would like to make sure that all work you stated you did was done and that I'm pleased with the final result.

This is no different than most anyone would expect if they were contracting to have a roof done or an addition put on there home or any other trade.

So here is the real question for all the other primes out there, when was the last time a 1099 sub treated you like a customer?

Honestly there is way to many subs on here who act like someone put a gun to their head and forced them to except work.

Now I know I'm going to get blasted by the normal reply's and that's ok, I can take it. But it doesn't change the fact that we are in a customer service business and if you don't service the customer sooner or later someone else will.

While I'm at it I might as well mention the other big topic that seems to show up here " we need a union" sure sounds like a great thing to a lot of people on here except:I have five union trades people in my family and they have been for over twenty years or more, Plumber's, welders, electrician's, etc. nice bunch of guy's.

Always enjoy seeing them when their in town cause as union trades people they have to go where the union sends them to work which is more often than not over several states away from home. Hmmm how's that going to work when most subs cry about having to drive 30 miles down the road.

Bring it on brothers, can't wait for the reply's
