The 49th Annual Big Rock Blue Marlin Contest

This Contest is held in my home town , it started 49 yrs ago when the prize money was only $250.00 and now 49 yrs. later the prize money is over a million . Here is its web site http://www.thebigrock.com/ I hope you enjoy checking it out . I'm still working toward a King Mackerel Tourney for our industry , but not for this year . It takes time to arrange sponsors and a tournament . The last week in August was the available week to be sanctioned by the SKA . I'm just too afaraid we will have a majior hurricane in the Atlantic to accept that date and put fourth the leg work to have mother nature spoil it . I'm trying to get a date earlier in the year for next year . We'll see about next year . Nothing good ever came easy . The Big Rock started yesterday . One boat placed , one caught a disqualification fish at 370lbs it was under the minimum weight limit of 400 lbs . I hope they catch a thousand lb. monster this year . This Tournament brings alot of people here , its a good time for all , if a big fish is on the way in , the whole town hears about it before the boat docks and their could be two to three thousand on lookers at the docks to marvel at the size of the big boy when the string him up on the scales . I'll let you know the Boat name and the fishes weight that wins this year. I just pray we never have another innocendent like the Trophy Box , in which the mate got tangled in the Steel leader trying to boat a big one , this fish dove back into the deep taking the mate with him , never to be found again . I hope you enjoy the web site . Duck
I'd rather live my life believeing there is God and die to find out their isn't . Than to live my life as if their wasn't God and die to find out there is ! WHITFIELD
