You are right on those courses. I did not do SCTE but I did take
one from ATT when they had the @home service and I got in by taking a course called C-TECH which teaches ALL the aspects of network wiring including token ring and both wiring standards
for CAT5 (did not have cat 6 or better then). Learned ALOT
on BOTH cable and sat systems also phone as well.
