Yesterday , I sat down with my friend Jerry Macon owner of Ft.Macon Marina on Atlantic Beach one of the Largest Dry Stack Marinas here . We Discussed our industry and Him hosting the Tournament . He will give me A definite answer on Saturday . I understand his contention as he has hundreds of costumers to consider . A King Mackerel Tourney of the Magnitude that the Duck is Producing could in convince his costumers . In discussing things with him I realized a couple things , The Hardee's Tournament held out of Seawater Marina on Atlantic Beach has Changed is Name , I couldn't believe I made such a blunder not to know this . I then realized how much of my life in Cable had been spent down the Highway . Jerry Macon told me that out of the Vast # of boats in his Marina only five fished the Major Tourney out of The Seawater Marina . He stated that last year that Tournament only had (DON"T Quote me on this the # might be wrong) He said there was only 196 boats contending last year , almost the same # as many years back when it began . His contention was it was because soooooooo many professional corporate sponsored fisherman come from all across the US to try to win the Big Purse that the Tourney Produces . I thanked him for his input . I then decided that the Top Hook Contest will have two divisions , Professional (Corporate Sponsored) and Novice allowing all to Participate . Jerry also recommended that if he decided not to host it , that I go To Radio Island Marina and ask them . So I did . I spoke to the owner Mr.Newbern and told him what Mr. Macon had said , he said he would be very interested if Jerry didn't take it . Duck would find it hard to Believe if Jerry doesn't take it though . Tournaments are very Lucrative , I know for fact the Sonny Davis owner Of The Captain Stacey Fishing Center located next to Seawater Marina , netted 60,000 on Bait alone the First year of the Hardees Tourney . After speaking to Mr. Macon and Mr.Newbern I called George Summerlin retired President of the SKA and asked him would he still hold my hand as he offered to three years ago when I started this before my wife divorced me and I went off the Deep End and Dropped the Ball . His answer "YES Jerry you know I will " I then called Jack Holmes in Florida the current President to let him Know what was going on, since I hadn't got back with him since last Saturday when he was in Key West sanctioning the Hog's Breath Tourney there .
