Tivo's DVR technology is better than Dish's. There isn't a 3 second buffer built in when ffd/rwd. Plus many other things that makes tivo more enjoyable than dish.
Directv, I heard is already paying the Tivo toll and DTV's dvr is not as good as the original Tivo based dvr.
