The company I contract for pays $4 extra on dual tuners (beyond the extra outlet charge) to make up for the diplexors.
Dish does have their querks, but I recall the Dtv blue screen that takes forever at startup (solution: connect the recievers to power before installing the dish). And the DVR 2nd tuner signal failure glitch. And the software download that interferes with the activation.
