Thanks for the phone call. Hawk told me what I needed to know about hackers. (gospel) Not good. I knew he would know. I owe my life to this man. I would have been dead three years ago if not for Jay . Years back when the cat one hurricane hit Va. we worked Richmond together. One night after working almost twenty four hours straight , Comcast at 9pm called us all back out. Everbody was like ,what are these people thinking , anyway , Hawk was the man in charge in the field , we rolled out seven line trucks equipped for bear , and four splicers , we rode about 45 min to a big wigs neighbor hood that wanted his cable back on. As we entered the hood , it looked like a war zone, giant trees down everywhere . We proceeded to the address , it was down a dead end st. At the end of the street everybody parked their truck and walked back into the easment , we elected to take my bucket back with us . Mine had posi track and a big remote control spot light . We get to the amp location , about 30 of us . I go up in the bucket , everybody else watching , I took out my nut driver to open the amp can to check signal . Just before I touched it Hawk hollars out , you better hot stick that thing . What the .uck was I thinking , fatigue I'm sure . I had hot gloves and a hot stick with me. I will never forget everbodys reaction. I put on my gloves and touched the can with the stick. In the darkness the stick lit up 450,000 volts , everbody on the ground is like Jesus Christ . Needless to say , the big wig didn't get his cable on that night . All those trucks , all those men , out for nothing , because somebody dropped the ball. Power was supposed to be corrected already . All I have to say about it is two things , one thanks Hawkeye , and the other to comcast , it aint worth a life to get cable back on. Put yourself in our place before you make the decision to roll crews at night to repair hurricane damage.
