I was a professional bouncer and bartender before I started cable . We use to have some huge men at Art Stocks Playpen South in the 70's . Tree and Ox both , one 6'9 @300 lbs Tree, Ox at 6'8 285 . I was 6'4' at 250 ripped . Sometimes we had some good Brawls I got some stories to write about them . The two single most impressive fights I ever witnessed, one I was involved in . Here's the Story. This story takes place in Art Stocks Playpen South in 1976 in Ft. Lauderale. My brother had quit college to move to Fla. to be with me , He's a blackbelt 2nd degree in Karate ,he brought a friend with him named Robert Hunnings also a blackbelt . Robert and my brother started working at the club where I worked . This Club had a maximum capacity of 2800 people . I've seen it packed . There was a total of !2 bouncers , one slide man , and 18 bartenders . Robert was about 140lbs the smallest bouncer in the Club. He was in between the Rock and Roll room and the disco room in the south hall way . He had asked three men to leave as they were out of control. They were walking out when they decided to attack Robert , I was trailing behind through the crowd at the rear the men never saw me , They all at one time trird to jump Robert . I didn't even have time to help . He kicked them one two three . All three men KO on the floor . Bruce Lee, couldn't have done any better. The fight light went on and all the bouncers were there, we carried the men outside to the waiting police. . End of story . The hardest I've ever seen anybody hit was in the same Club . Dennis the slide man came to me and said we got to take this guy outside . Dennis is 6' 8" tall no baby. We walk up to the man and tell him he has to leave . He said No , we grabbed him by the arms , he broke loose and swung at Dennis , Dennis drills him ,his head hits the cash register and nearly knocks it off the bar , the registers were metal back then. We grab him again , again he brakes free . I think I was 19 then , this Big Bartender named Jerry sails across the bar , one hand and one foot hits the bar. All in one motion he hits the man . The man flew a good ten ft. and landed on people at the other bar . He's out cold , Me and Dennis drag him out . He comes too , out front , but as usual the cops were there. The man was missing his shoes . The cops asked me to go back in and look for them . I found his shoes where he last stood , they looked as if he had stepped out of them , side by side . He was knocked out of his shoes from the impact of the punch. Jerry was once a golden gloves boxer . I've seen people kicked that hard but never punched I'll never forget it. Just writing this makes me feel old it was 30 years ago . I could write stories about me and fights ,but that would make me appear to be Bragging . To get my personal stories you will have to buy my book if I ever finish it.
