        Don't be, you are right, lower tap values compensate for insertion loss, the idea of any system is to have the same out put at every tap location unless designated as a "Hot Tap" with a little black dot. The design also trys to hit the next LE or amp in put flat. The reverse is set up the same way using In Line EQ's to compensate for the forward design.
