Cable contractor Triumph Communications Corp. is making a bid to become number-one in
Florida, announcing it is aggressively negotiating to acquire fellow installation
contractor United Cable Communications Group of Orlando.
United Cable is the second largest cable installation contractor in the Sunshine State,
which is home to several key cable systems owned by Bright House Networks, Comcast Corp.
and Adelphia Communications, among others. If Triumph closes the deal, it would become
the largest cable TV installation contractor in Florida and one of the largest in the
country.
In a statement, Triumph President Kenneth Tuccio said the acquisition would be a
significant milestone for the company.
"From a strategic perspective, this acquisition would be a huge step toward achieving our
revenue growth projections," he said.
But the acquisition is not a done deal. According to United Vice President Gary
Daginella, the deal is promising, but "there are a few obstacles that are still in the
way but we feel optimistic that they can be worked out."
