A hard 90....is indeed an ineffective ground...That is the point where a lightning strike will blow out...instead of going to ground...Lightning follows the shortest, fastest way to ground...A sharp 90 degree bend...will not allow that to happen...It is not because the customer wants it that way...It is required by the N.E.C...
