Re: Non-Compete Contract

Non-compete clauses are becoming more and more common. They don't work for contractors. Its just a scare tactic in your contract,,,"If you quit working for us, you'll never work in this town again". Its' B.S. and it won't stick unless you are an "in house" employee". If you are an employee moving to a sub position, it still wont work unless someone rats you out,( if your working in the same system thats bound to happen). If your a sub and jump ship for another contractor, go for it, although it would help if you move to a different system, alot of subs dont welcome subs from other contrators all the time, and they may rat you out, although in court your non-compete would probably not hold up, but, the trouble you stir may get your work load down to zilch.!! So.....do your homework before you sign the contract, show up at 7 a.m. and wait in the parking lot and talk to the subs to find out if the contractor is worth the time before you sign. Good contracts are getting hard to come by. Hopefully good subs will prevail in this industry and Hacks won't. This is one way of weeding them out. Good luck
