Pegasus Addresses Chapter 11 at FCC

Pegasus Communications took its legal spat with DirecTV to the Federal Communications Commission, explaining to top officials at the agency the background of the skirmish and its recent Chapter 11 bankruptcy filing.

On Friday, Pegasus CEO Mark Pagon and Vice President Cheryl Crate held a conference call with Ken Ferree, Barbara Esbin and Deborah Klein of the FCC Media Bureau, stated a filing the company sent to the FCC this week. During the call, company executives explained the circumstances behind the Chapter 11 filing for a number of Pegasus subsidiaries. They also spoke about the "practices" employed by DirecTV to separate customers from Pegasus, the filing stated.

The Pegasus executives also told bureau officials that the Chapter 11 filing won't impact the status of any company pleadings before the bureau. Among the FCC proceedings Pegasus has a close eye on is DirecTV's proposal to use a Canadian orbital location to deliver local TV to customers.
