There are not many status monitoring systems out
there.  Most of the large manufacturers of line equipment have their own,
such as Scientific-Atlanta.  However, AM Communications and Cheetah
Technologies seem to be two of the leaders in this area which provide status
monitoring for almost any line equipment (and probably headend
monitoring).  They are both on the web.  Be careful of heavy sales
talk.  Once you talk to them, have them give you a list of references and
CALL them to see what they have run in to.  Remember, status monitoring
equipment is complicated microprocessor controlled equipment in an adverse
environment and therefore will have a higher failure rate than the line
equipment.
