Odds are, if you gaff out you won't have time to think. Much less try and gaff back in or push away or sqeeze your belt to slow your fall. But I would rather not be strapped to a pole on the way down.
>When I was taught to Climb, you weren't supposed to hug the pole. If you kick out lean back and let the belt take the abuse then try to get a gaff back in. That way no splinters!!! Always worked for me!!
