CBLMPR, you don’t have to go away mad. Just go away. Seriously, a degree in engineering is no easy task. Those who stick it out to attain such a goal deserve recognition and should be commended for their efforts. So, if you do hold a degree in engineering, then my hats off to you CBLMPR. I will also concede that you probably do have a legitimate claim to be given TN status as defined by the law due to your academic achievements. But I will also state that you are the exception CBLMPR. I admire your attempt to defend your fellow countrymen with your tactful responses, always trying to side step the only real issue. But after the dust settled, you never did confirm or deny our allegations. CANADIANS are not allowed to perform CATV construction in the US in any way shape or form using a TN status to do so. Working under the direction of an engineer to apply theoretical knowledge of engineering concepts for the basis of research? Maybe.
Look, here’s our problem CABMPR, it’s no secret the US economy basically stinks at present. Over 100,000 jobs each month are disappearing. When we are unsuccessful finding work in our trade, we are forced to look elsewhere for work. This only exacerbates the problem as someone else is pushed out or their job. The whole thing snowballs, contributing to one bleak economic mess. What work exists for CATV contactors is scarce at best. Most of us do not possess the skill set that you have acquired through your education CBLMPR. CATV work does not transition all that well into other industries. When we’re out of a job, many of us are hard pressed to find another. When there was plenty to go around no one really cared about the work going to foreign labor, albeit illegal. Unfortunately, that is a major, weakness of most Americans. If things are going OK for the average Joe, he could care less what’s going on around him. Sad, but true. Well, things have changed CABLMPR. Now far too many of us are having problems just providing for our families. Guys who have paid their dues in this business many times over are sitting on the sidelines watching the work go to foreign interests. It’s one thing to lose a job to someone who has played by the rules, and deserves a shot, such as you CBLMPR. But it’s another to watch American employment opportunities be stolen by FOREIGNERS who have no right to their claim! We have few options but to demand what is rightfully ours. Our jobs! So when the **** hits the fan, no whining out there please, because everyone has been warned of the consequences.
CBLMPR, I assume that you have withdrawn from this discussion as you have removed your posts in regards to this issue. For we too have grown weary of this place. It has served its purpose for the time being. However I want to thank you for engaging in the discussion, for you helped us prove our point. Good luck with your career and I hope you will try and dissuade your fellow countrymen from continuing their blatant disregard for the law.
