Build a Sun Shade for it like they put over security cameras
It can be done with a couple of tap brackets and a piece of metal painted white, or use aluminum foil back tape that the HVAC guys use (Topside), Home Depot has it for sealing duct work then bend it like a pitch of a roof V but upside down and bolt it over top of the node.
It is not the Ambient heat that is killing it, it is the Latent heat put off by the electronics and the radiant heat from the sun.
Here in Vegas I have Security cameras that are rated at -20F to 140F and I have a few that are in direct contact with sunlight all day, on 112deg days they would shut down then later 90deg. they would fire back up.
On one 110deg day I took an infrared thermometer and shot the camera and it registered 167F and after I put the shades over them on a 100deg day they were around 118F to 122F and never had a problem since
