Individual should have own hand tools, belt, and gaffs.
Job Description
o Read and interpret work orders, including (but not limited to) strand maps, PDF prints, Bentley prints, and any other CATV/fiber related document. Provide daily pay sheet and associated as built documentation at the end of each shift.
o Directs and helps apprentice/groundhand maintain an organized and clean aerial cable placing truck that is properly tooled and stocked daily.
o Verifies with apprentice that all tools and equipment (including trailer) are in good working order daily.
o Works with crew to conduct a pre-job safety/hazard analysis prior to beginning any work.
o Maintain a professional attitude with crew and the general public and insure the crew members maintain a professional attitude.
? Understands and can perform all work associated to aerial cable placement.
o Installation of strand and associated hardware
o Pole transfers & banding attachments
o De-lash and re-lash of active cables and fiber without causing damage to cables and/or fiber.
o Installation of aerial fiber optic cable
o Installation of aerial coaxial cable
Experience & Physical Demands:
The aerial foreman must have the ability to climb a utility pole using either gaffs or a fiberglass extension ladder. The employee is required to be able to lift and maneuver up to sixty pounds over their head on a daily basis. Also, the employee must be willing and able to work in extreme weather conditions the entire year.
