Qualifications

Fiber Optic Lineman Experience Required. Ability to safety and efficiently climb and work from utility poles. Operate and work out of a bucket trucks and pull reel trailers. Train less experienced lineman and ground hands. Job Description Experienced Fiber Optics Lineman Primary responsibilities for this position include: •Install, upgrade, repair or remove aerial cables •Work safely, follow safe work practices and procedures and wear mandated Personal Protective Equipment.

Other Requirements

•Complete work as directed by supervisor •May provide instruction to others, including assisting in training of less experienced lineman and ground-hands •Preventative maintenance of equipment, including truck and trailer •Maintain clean and safe work site

Job Description

The Aerial Lineman works in an outside plant environment placing, rearranging and removing poles and lines. As an aerial lineman, you’ll install lines and cables (including fiber) using various construction equipment. You'll also inspect previously installed infrastructure to make sure it's working properly. Specific duties include, but are not limited to:
• Properly climb poles with ability to safely use ladders
• Place aerial fiber cable
• Troubleshoot, maintain and repair overhead fiber lines
• Understanding of separation and clearance regulations
• Utilize standard telecommunications tools
• Read and interpret maps
• Keep detailed record of work activity
Skills/Requirements
• 1-2 years of aerial lineman, telecommunications experience preferred
• Properly climb poles with ability to safely use ladders
• Proficient in new build fiber installation and pole transfers
• Interpret engineering work plans
• Must be able to work nights and weekends, if necessary
• Must be able to work in all weather conditions.
• Must be able to carry 75-80 lbs., to include an extension ladder.
• Must be able to work at heights of 20+’ feet
• Must be able to bend, stand, sit, crawl, climb and lift throughout work shift
• Work emergency outages when required
• Must have high school diploma or equivalent
• Must have a valid driver’s license
