This position has partial work direction responsibilities but will include the ideal candidate to be able to work independently with little to no supervision as well as be able to make decisions on process and procedure reviews. Overview:

Position available consists of aerial telecom lineman utility work. Includes coordination and oversight of a specific crew(s) ranging from 2-3 employees.  This position is responsible for overall safety, materials, reporting, customers, leadership, employee communication, and productivity measures within their crew.

This person must be capable of handling deadline driven jobs of small to medium size from beginning to end.  Must possess excellent scheduling, material knowledge, quality workmanship and leadership skills, be willing to face issues in a positive manner and resolve day to day conflicts as they arise.  Travel may be required between Phoenix sites. Professional reporting, as-built, time sheets, job cost, material slips, purchase orders and equipment maintenance are essential functions of this role as well.

Responsibilities:

Dismantles, moves, and removes aerial, underground or building wire, cable associated equipment and hardware.
Connects wires and cables to terminals and attaches/detaches various kinds of hardware to wires, cables, building, or poles.
Direct work flow of ground hands to ensure safety, productivity and compliance.
Build aerial plant to customer specifications to include: framing poles, placing new strand, lashing new cable to bare strand, over lashing cable to existing strand and cable. Installing anchors and down guys, snow shoes, placing FST fiber terminals, grounding & bonding of strand, placement of riser guards, trimming trees, pulling of cable/fiber short distances in conduit, installing pole mounted cabinets, placing ground rods and installing VGR’s on poles, swapping lashers on poles either from a bucket truck or from hooks/ladders.
Must be able to examine all work sites for safety, compliance, deficiencies and report any incidents as needed.
Deploy and remove all traffic control surrounding the work site.
Must be able to repair and maintain cable/fiber system and structures such as broken lashing, replacing or re-sagging aerial stand, pole transfers, down guys, aerial to underground conversion and make readys.

Qualifications:

1-2 years of work-related experience specific to telecommunications industry
Must possess a valid class A CDL upon hire or within 90 days of employment
Any combination of education and/or experience that demonstrates ability to perform the designated job duties and responsibilities of the position.
Ability to have common sense understanding to carry out instructions that are provided in written, oral or drawing. Ability to deal with and understand problems involving different variables in many varied situations.
Ability to calculate figures and amounts (measurements in terms of distance, proportions, percentages and area. Ability to apply concepts of basic mathematics.
Ability to read, understand and interpret documents such as safety rules and requirements, machine manuals of operation and process procedures. Ability to write information including reports. Ability to speak effectively to customers, coworkers and vendors.
Must possess, or obtain upon employment, a valid driver’s license.
Must be able to pass a background check and company drug screening.
Must be able to attend and pass all company required training as needed.
May be required to work over-time; after hours; on weekends or be on-call as work is needed.
May include working nights and holidays.
May be required to travel in state or overnight as necessary to meet business and job requirements.
Regular and timely attendance is an essential function of this position.
Duties outlined in this position will require the employee to stand, crouch, sit, bend, use hands and fingers to handle or feel as well as reaching with hands and arms to spaces both high and low. The employee will be standing, walking, climbing, balancing, crawling, crouching, lifting, holding or stooping a moderate amount of time while on shift.
The noise level in the work environment for this position is moderate.
Employees performing functions of this position are regularly exposed to outside weather conditions which can include but is not limited to: extreme heat and cold temperatures; inclement weather such as rain, snow, sleet and dust; adverse driving conditions including wet roads, icy roads, and fog.
Employees performing these job functions are required to lift or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally will team lift up to 100 pounds in a shift.
Employees in this job classification may be exposed to dust, fumes or other airborne pathogens.
Employees may be exposed to toxic or corrosive chemicals as well as moving machinery parts and pieces.
Specific vision abilities required to perform this job include but are not limited to: close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus potentially near and/or far as needed.
