Qualifications

•Operate a Ditch Witch horizontal directional drill machine. •Responsible for confirming and completing the placement of conduit in accordance with engineered blueprints that are approved by our Engineering Group. •Set up the bore rig to ensure proper ground penetration and operation. •Bore operator will make sure all underground utilities are marked and have a current 811 ticket in hand prior to start of digging/drilling.

Other Requirements

•Responsible for ensuring work areas are properly coned off to ensure pedestrian and crew member safety. •The operator will conduct routine equipment checks daily and submit/elevate any issues or concerns they may have to the equipment manager and construction supervisor to ensure the safety of the crew and the public. •Bore operator will supply supervisor with status updates and submit documentation of work completed. I.e. Bore log. •Must know how to perform 811 procedure markings.

Job Description

Turn-Around Communications (TACI) is a communications construction contractor for Comcast and is looking to hire a group of skilled professionals to fill the duties of underground directional bore crews.
ROLES, RESPONSIBILITIES AND REQUIRED SKILLS
Bore Operator:
• Operate a Ditch Witch horizontal directional drill machine.
• Responsible for confirming and completing the placement of conduit in accordance with engineered blueprints that are approved by our Engineering Group.
• Set up the bore rig to ensure proper ground penetration and operation.
• Bore operator will make sure all underground utilities are marked and have a current 811 ticket in hand prior to start of digging/drilling, as well as making sure all utilities in the line of sight, have been pot holed and exposed.
• Responsible for ensuring work areas are properly coned off to ensure pedestrian and crew member safety.
• The operator will conduct routine equipment checks daily and submit/elevate any issues or concerns they may have to the equipment manager and construction supervisor to ensure the safety of the crew and the public.
• Bore operator will supply supervisor with status updates and submit documentation of work completed. I.e. Bore log.
• Must know how to perform 811 procedure markings.
Bore Crew Locator:
• The locator and operator will work in conjunction to ensure the rig is being operated efficiently and safely.
• The locator will guide the bore operator along the span of the bore path to ensure drilling avoids the existing utilities, to minimize any potential damages.
• Locator will be responsible for making sure that locating equipment is operating correctly and accurately.
• Issues will be reported to the direct supervisor.
• Must perform 811 procedure markings properly and accurately.
General Bore Laborers:
• Will assist Bore operator-crew leader and locator with duties encompassing the bore operation.
• These individuals will be responsible for a wide array of duties which include driving equipment to sites, setting up for construction, conducting traffic control, digging and other forms of required manual labor.
• Loading and unloading equipment and materials.
• Must perform 811 procedure markings properly and accurately.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
• Two (2) years of relevant experience is preferred.
PREFERRED SKILLS
• Bilingual – English and Spanish
• Clean drivers license
• Class A Commercial Driving License (preferred but not a must)
• Knowledge of the Cable or Construction industries
