Qualifications
HS Diploma required, minimum of 1-2 years fiber optic splicing experience including splicing multi-count fibers jobs, locating, terminating, testing using various types of equipment (OTDR, Fusion Splicer, bucket truck); Aerial experience a plus.
Other Requirements
AFL OTDR, Fusion Splicer, Bucket Truck and Fiber Trailer operation, laptop computer skills: MS Office Word, Excel. In addition, required to undergo a background check in accordance with local law/regulations, have a state issued drivers license and personal vehicle, reside or willing to relocate within 50 miles of Lisle Illinois, and speak English
Job Description
AMSAT is looking for individuals experienced in the Cable construction/service industry. We are currently seeking an experienced Fiber Splicer Technician and is willing to train candidates that meet the following criteria:
Ability to effectively perform various fiber optic splicing duties (splicing, terminating, testing, etc.) and using various types of equipment (OTDR, Fusion Splicer).
1-2 years fiber splicing experience preferred, but not required. Aerial experience a plus.
Able to understand and decipher prints/schematics and maps; and experience with Google Earth is a plus.
Ability to use a laptop computer to prepare and compile necessary project documentation that involves use of online forms, reports and traces from OTDR meter and submit via email.
Can demonstrate critical thinking to troubleshoot issues in the field and work independently when necessary.
Has solid work ethic and can demonstrate follow through ability to complete tasks as required.
Ability to work in all types of weather and conditions including confined spaces and heights in excess of 30 feet (previous bucket-truck experience a plus).
Willing to work nights, long hours and be available for emergency services when necessary.
Perform other duties as necessary.
Pay commensurate with experience and/or completed training.
