Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY:

• Responsible for HFC plant construction, placing and lashing coax or fiber; laying and installing all cables in compliance with all applicable codes, regulations, and customer specifications

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

• Interact and communicate with co-workers & customers in a clear & professional manner
• Perform operation of aerial lifts, lashers, and other construction equipment
• Work with immediate supervisor and perform all duties with minimal supervision
• Available for overnight travel on an "as needed" basis
• Recognize, practice, & enforce Construction Safety Rules & Procedures
• Demonstrate proficient use of all safety gear
• Keep assigned vehicle in a neat, stocked, and organized manner
• Work normal and odd hours, to include midnight to early AM work as assigned
• Drive large bucket truck and back/maneuver cable trailer
• Understand the concepts & terminology of system design maps
• Have an understanding of HFC plant & its operation
• Perform MINOR plant maintenance & pole transfers, cut over end of line hard-line coax/soft drop cable
• Complete all assigned paperwork in an efficient & timely manner
• Adhere to all company and departmental policies, standards, and established procedures
• Perform other duties as assigned

PREFERRED CANDIDATE WILL POSSESS:

• High School diploma or equivalent
• Ability to speak the English language clearly, concisely, and to communicate effectively in a courteous and professional manner
• Ability to handle various tasks simultaneously, organize, prioritize, make decisions, and work efficiently and effectively under deadlines required
• Basic mechanical aptitude
• Valid driver’s license and ability to pass MVR screen (CDL Preferred)
• Pass pre-employment background screen and drug test

WORKING CONDITIONS:

• Exposure to dust, dirt, noise, insects
• Outdoor work in all kinds of weather and at all times of the day or night
• Near power lines and electricity

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & WORKING CONDITIONS:

• Ability to safely use weight-bearing equipment (safety harness and ladders) within the maximum weight limitations of the equipment
• Ability to accurately measure distances, using tapes or other measuring devices
• Ability to carry, climb, operate, and work upon an extension ladder (approximately 28 ft high and 80 pounds), use weight-bearing equipment (safety harness and ladders) within the maximum weight limitations of the equipment
• Ability to differentiate between different sizes and colors of wires, and work with wire to make cable connections
• Ability to perform job from high places (ie. poles and roofs in addition to an extension ladder)
• Ability to use hand tools in the manner for which they were intended including electric drills, hammers, wrenches, and screwdrivers
• Ability to safely walk over all types of terrain in all kinds of weather while carrying tools and equipment including ladders and fully loaded tool belts
• Ability to work while standing 75%-90% of the time
