Degree in construction management, engineering or related discipline OR equivalent combination of technical training and experience.
Solid overall telecom utility infrastructure background.
Experienced in proposal development.
Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
Project and/or customer experience with federal, state, local governments and commercial installations.
Strong Computer skills MS Office, Visio, MS Project and CAD.
Ability to adhere to demanding project deadlines.
Job Description
SMC Infrastructure Solutions has a current need for an experienced Estimator/Project Manager for Inside/Outside Plant Data & Telecommunications Infrastructure projects. Bid responsibilities include Fixed Price, Time & Material, Not to Exceed, Pre-Construction, Budgets, and Design/Bid estimates and proposals for government and commercial projects.
Job Requirements & Responsibilities:
Knowledge of industry standard construction means and methods.
Ability to read and understand contract documents, drawings and specifications. Understands building systems, construction materials, electrical, design and engineering concepts, and overall knowledge of construction, data & telecommunications infrastructure projects.
Attend pre-bid meetings, perform site visits, conduct site surveys and document existing conditions.
Perform take-offs, submit RFQ’s and RFI’s, develop scope of work based on contract documents complete with scope inclusions, exclusions & classifications.
Work in collaboration with a network of subcontractors and material suppliers, to guarantee best value pricing, timely estimates and quality of work available on every project.
Review suppliers/subcontractors quotes for completeness with project plans & specifications.
Review design options and recommend solutions based on cost, engineering quality and/or availability of materials.
Establish preliminary construction schedule and duration.
Familiar with various Inside Plant (ISP) and Outside Plant (OSP) construction methods including:
Structured cabling and wiring methods such as building conduit and riser cabling.
Design, analysis, and recommendations relative to CAT 5, 5e, CAT 6, copper, fiber-optic, and coaxial cable installations.
Aerial, directional boring, backhoe, trenching, and plowing operations as well as digger and bucket truck operations.
Maintain a professional appearance, positive attitude, and exceptional work ethic.
5-10 years successful experience as a commercial construction estimator with projects ranging from $250 thousand to $10 million.
Experience using Sage 300 Construction (Timberline) is a plus.
