Job Description

Overview:
The OSP Construction Manager position is responsible for representing the CPM division with clients and on any range of subjects related to cable construction. The position is responsible for supervising the day-to-day operations and job completion projects in their assigned field.

Responsibilities
Essential Functions:
Oversees, tracks, and reports the progress and quality of work being performed by construction coordinators and sub-contractors.
Controls any number of projects at various stages of work.
Consults with clients to determine functional and spatial requirements of construction, including but not limited to scheduling, budget, roles/responsibilities for stakeholders, materials management, invoicing and reporting. Ensure clients' needs are met in a timely and cost-effective manner.
Compare and approve subcontractor invoices against QC'd work for accuracy and to ensure subcontractor accountability for completion and quality.
Manages relationships with client's sub-contractors for purposes of effectively planning, managing and evaluating construction.
Closely monitors projects to identify trends and/or risks, and to adjust/mitigate accordingly. Keeps the client and others informed about project status and issues regarding subcontractors and issues that may impact client relations.
Communicates ideas for improving field processes with a positive and constructive attitude, and develops this attitude in others.

Qualifications
Competencies:
Education in Engineering or Construction Management or equivalent experience in OSP cable construction
Previous experience leading construction crews on aerial and underground fiber construction required.
Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; coaching, rewarding and disciplining employees; and addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Travel:
<20% of the time (mileage is reimbursed at a federal standard rate)

Required Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree preferred
5+ years' experience with OSP Cable Construction
