Position Summary:
QCFS is currently seeking additional members to join our team. We are looking for a reliable individual to splice fiber for maintenance contracts and large builds. Our company offers a full benefits package to include medical, dental and vision. We also offer paid time off, as well as supplemental insurance options.
Work will consist of aerial and underground splicing, as well as new and upgraded construction. We offer top industry pay with a great work environment. Responsibilities:
• As a supervisor, maintains a high level of customer relations to enhance the QCFS and cable operator brands.
• Ensures efficient splicing project scheduling to achieve maximum converted network productivity.
• Provides fiber splicing production reporting for accurate billing, inventory management and productivity measures.
• Has primary responsibility for converted network performance.
• Troubleshoots network issues and proposes solutions.
• Recommends improvements to QCFS methods and procedures, standards and documentation, tools and operational support systems to produce maximum effectiveness/efficiency and a quality customer experience.
• Maintains and safeguards QCFS vehicles, equipment and tools.
• Other duties as assigned.
• A minimum of 5 years of senior technical experience with hybrid fiber-coax network maintenance and/or construction.
• A minimum of 3 years of relevant splicing experience in construction or fiber optic network operations.
• Operating knowledge of fusion splicing equipment, methods and measurements.
• Thorough knowledge of HFC networks and optical design and a working knowledge of current fiber optic network technologies and associated designs.
• Ability to utilize people, project tools and technologies to complete projects in a successful and timely manner.
• Ability to communicate observations, findings and results and address open issues and resolve problems.
• Goal oriented, self-starter capable of leading by example.
• A pride in detailed reporting to support accurate billing, inventory requirements and team productivity.
• Ability to communicate, solve problems, coach and train others.
• Exhibit the highest level of professionalism and integrity in interactions with all levels of the organization, cable operator management and homeowners/customers.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• An unblemished driving record and a current driver’s license.
• Our ideal applicants have worked for a cable operator in a senior technical field position, such as line technician. You understand the importance of not interrupting a customer’s service. You are familiar with cable electronics and have experience with fiber optics.
• Adhere to and advance QCFS’s Safety Principles
• Use and understand the fiber optic color code. Read prints Install and test fiber cable in a variety of environments (underground, aerial).
• Bond and ground fibers according to current specifications.
• Place both aerial and underground splice closures along with a variety of other closures common to the splicing and termination of fiber optic cables.
• Perform testing utilizing OTDRs, Power Meter/Light Sources and VFLs. Record and document testing per customer specifications.
• Maintain a professional working attitude with co-workers and customers at all times.
• Will have a thorough working knowledge of most widely used construction practices of fiber cable
• Must have the experience to detect safety issues and work independently.
• This position requires significant time doing manual labor functions, walking on uneven ground, working in tight spaces and in general, being overall physically demanding. Must be able to perform heavy physical work and perform duties in a safe and efficient manner.
• Must be capable of carrying a 24 foot ladder and wear fall protection when needed.
• Work up to 6 days per week in an all -weather environment and be willing to travel as required.
