Job Description

Experienced linemen for aerial construction and maintenance of fiber and coax. Successful candidates will be able to perform all required tasks to specs with little to no supervision. Initiative and prideful workmanship is a must.

Position summary:
The ideal Aerial Broadband Lineman/Foreman is responsible for new construction, repair and installation of fiber and coax lines and have experience working with the hanging of fiber/coax on power or telecommunication poles.

Tasks:
• Performs all duties according to prescribed safety procedures and uses appropriate safety equipment.
• Responds to and participates in emergency and outage situations that require heavy construction capabilities.
• Repairs, replaces and relocates aerial and underground cable plant including fiber optic, transportation, distribution and drop cable. Ensures plant construction meets industry standards, is technically reliable and performed in timely and cost efficient manner.
• Repairs and maintains major cable system and structures such as broken lashing, replacing or re-sagging aerial strand, pole transfers, down-guys, aerial to underground conversion, substructure repairs and cable replacements related to system outages, maintenance, rebuilds and emergencies or hazards.
• Assist in the training of inexperienced employees to become lineman.
• Obey traffic laws, and follow established traffic and transportation procedures.
• Report any mechanical problems encountered with vehicles or equipment.
• Read maps, and follow written and verbal geographic directions.
• Inspect and maintain vehicle supplies and equipment, such as gas, oil, water, tires, lights, and brakes, to ensure that vehicles are in proper working condition.
• Maintain records such as vehicle logs, in accordance with regulations.
• It is the Linemen's responsibility to make sure he has all the materials need for the job.
• Other Tasks as determined by Management.
• Provides support for Lineman crews during all phases of construction activity.
