Qualifications

As an Aerial Lineworker/Splicer you will be performing a variety of duties related to the installation, operation, repair, and maintenance of overhead fiber optics. You are on the front line, playing a role in Sit-Co LLC’s strategic direction, development, and future growth. You will gain knowledge in fiber optic construction and expected to follow all safety precautions set forth by Federal, State, & Sit-Co LLC’s regulations. Position is supervised by Field Manager/Supervisor.

Essential Job Functions
• Performing installation of our fiber network and maintenance dispatches, as needed, to deliver internet services to both residential and commercial customers
• Liaising with the team for any fiber restoration effort
• Evaluate and plan installations
• Ability to install, troubleshoot and/or repair fiber optic systems
• Maintain a safe work environment by following established safety practices
• Communicate clearly and effectively with supervisors and peers
• Gain knowledge of installation of fiber infrastructure
• Must be able to splice fiber. Knowledge of fiber and color code. Must be able to use and operate a bucket truck and lashing machine
• Clean up debris from installation and return unused materials. Return premise to like or better conditions
• Prepare and assemble various apparatus and equipment
• Drive and operate various vehicles
• Communicate with dispatch
• Prepare all site photos and documentation
• Complete assigned tasks within project scope accurately and efficiently
• Strict attention to detail and organization; enabling timely task completion focusing on the quality of workmanship
• Pick up, loading and delivery of supplies, tools, equipment, components, etc.
• Stock vehicle with material commonly used on a daily basis
• Maintain clean, orderly environment adhering to company policies and industry regulation/standard(s) (OSHA)
• Work safely and effectively
• Observe project sites for defects and safety hazards that may require attention
• Clean and maintain equipment. Insure equipment is in proper working order
• Attend vendor and in-house training and participate in certification programs as necessary
Requirements

• Aerial fiber construction experience and bucket truck experience required
• Valid driver’s license required
• Must be experienced in splicing fiber optic cables
• Must have knowledge of fiber optic construction prints & designs
• Must have working knowledge & experience of all types of aerial construction equipment, including bucket truck, fiber trailer, aerial hardware & framing knowledge, etc.
• Experience in ascending, descending and utilizing safety equipment, including harness, gloves, blankets, etc.
• Must be able to work at heights up to 70’
• Ability to take direction and learn from experience
• Ability to competently perform the duties of Aerial Lineworker/Splicer with ease
• Must have complete knowledge of basic hand tools and thorough experience with power tools
• Know the hazards associated with construction equipment, and working on or near energized lines and equipment
• Effectively interface with all levels of management, staff, and customers
• Ability to travel locally, 95% of the time
• Be available for 40+ hours per week
• Analyze situations accurately and adopt an appropriate course of action
• Communicate orally and in writing
• Pass the following tests prior to employment: drug test and background check
• Possess and maintain a valid driver’s license
• Have a reliable transportation to work
• Work independently at given tasks that do not require multiple people
• Be clean and well-groomed while working
• Be and remain drug free


Physical Demands
• Lift 80 pounds
• Must work within manufacturer’s rated weight capacity for all equipment, including but not limited to ladders and aerial lifts
• Ability to talk and hear
• Ability to sit and use hands and fingers, to handle or feel
• Ability to stand, walk, reach with arms and hands, ascend, descend and balance, and to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl sometimes in tight spaces
• Vision ability: close vision, peripheral vision and ability to adjust focus and able to manipulate objects such as tools, pens, keyboard and mouse. Hand/eye coordination
• Ability to work outside and withstand varied inclement weather conditions [-20° to 120° Wind Chill Factor]
