Telecom and Utility Construction Industry, with a large and diverse customer
base reaching from coast to coast. Our six divisional offices support
operations in most major markets in our North American Foot-print.

Job Description and Responsibilities :
The Project Manager is responsible for the end to end implementation of fully executed service agreements in the assigned market. The Project Manager is a matrix line management position with direct accountability over project and responsibility for staff assigned to the project meeting objectives.

Primary Responsibilities:

Define the scope of the project in collaboration with Operations and create a detailed work plan which identifies add sequences the activities needed to successfully complete the project

Develop strategies and tactics for improving operation efficiencies while improving service levels, employee retention and operational costs

Develop a schedule for project completion that effectively allocates the resources to the activities

Review the project schedule with senior management, operations, and other applicable staff that will be affected by the project activities; revise the schedule as required

Execute the project according to the project plan and make necessary adjustment to ensure successful completion of the project.

Communicate overall performance, quality, and production levels of assigned markets with Operations, Corporate, and Senior Management

Collaborate on staff forecasts, direction, placement, and replenishment of staff to meet the client’s production requirements

Act as a liaison to Corporate Shared Services, coordinate communication and resolutions to problems and concerns within the operations

Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws including, but not limited to, interviewing, hiring, planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems

Understand, train and enforce proper documentation of pay activities (work orders, timesheets, etc.)

Ensure Field employees have the proper tools, training on tools, and safety gear to succeed at all times

Review the quality of the work completed with the project team on a regular basis to ensure that it meets the project standards and safety standards

Ensure that the project deliverables are on time, within budget, and at the required level of quality

Handle all customer Quality complaints, questions and develop solutions

Other duties as assigned

Requirements :
Qualifications

Education:

Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year College or university; or five to seven years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Experience:

5+ years of experience in project management and 10 years of experience in underground construction

Proven experience working with the underground utilities, understanding the placement and routing of those types of utilities/fiber optic, and cable tv pathways/ aerial and MDU

Ability to manage difficult customer and employee situations

Ability to issue, monitor, and QC work in an organized, positive, safe, and efficient manner

Knowledge of the use and operating characteristics of a variety of light and heavy equipment used in construction and maintenance

Knowledge of the hazards incidental to maintenance and construction involved and of the safety measures to be observed

Thorough knowledge of inventory control

Technical Skills:

CDL preferred, but not required

Full comprehension of construction plans in order to supervise successful completion of operations

Soft Skills:

Highly organized and detail orientated

Ability to think analytically and apply sound judgment, solve problems, make effective decisions, and act with integrity

Ability to multi-task and work in a fast paced environment

Time management skills; must be able to meet deadlines

Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills

Physical Requirements:

Must be able to pass pre-employment screening that includes background and drug testing

Individuals must have a valid driver’s license and driving record meeting the company policy conditions

Must be in good physical condition with the ability to stoop, crawl, bend at the knees and waist, squat and lift 50 lbs; includes body weight, equipment, tools and boxes

Must be able to stand for long periods of time on varied surfaces

May be required to work long and unpredictable hours
