Pay

$20 - $28 an hour, based on experience. 15% shift differential for midnight shift. On call bonuses, double time for weekend emergencies after 6PM Friday - Sunday night. Full benefit package.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent. Any industry recognized certifications are a plus, but not required. Minimum 2 years in telecommunications construction / splicing.

Other Requirements

Vehicles, power tools, and splicing and testing equipment provided by the Company. Person will be responsible for PPE and hand tools.

Job Description

FIBER SPLICER

•A fiber splicer is responsible for the pre-trip inspection of their truck and trailer his crew will be using that day. This includes checking the fluid levels of the truck and keeping the truck clean, neat, and organized.
•Communication skills are extremely important for a fiber splicer. Fiber splicers are required to competently interact with customers on the phone and face to face. Also, keeping communication with crew members and the fiber supervisor are essential. All installers will have a professional attitude and appearance.
•Read and interpret documents in the form of work orders, including (but not limited to) strand maps, PDF prints, Bentley prints, and any other CATV/fiber related document. Provide daily pay sheet and associated as built documentation at the end of each shift.
•A fiber splicer is required to complete the follow tasks.
oEnter hubs and be proficient in the use of OTDR’s for tone and testing.
oLocate splice points (existing and new) de-lash, dress slack, and re-lash.
oAssemble and replace multiple types of OSP and ISP enclosures including dressing slack of buffer tubes and individual fibers.
oPerform a mid-span access (ring cut) to an existing storage loop and buffer tubes without compromising existing optical transmissions.
oAbility to dress and install mux and optical splitter equipment.
oMust be proficient in troubleshooting fiber optic issues.
oMaintain and properly use all associated tooling.
oAdhere to NEC bonding and grounding requirements for armored fiber.
•The fiber splicer needs to be prepared with all proper PPE and should consider safety as top priority on the job site.


COAX SPLICER

•A coax splicer is responsible for the pre-trip inspection of their truck and trailer his crew will be using that day. This includes checking the fluid levels of the truck and keeping the truck clean, neat, and organized.
•Communication skills are extremely important for a fiber splicer. Coax splicers are required to competently interact with customers on the phone and face to face. Also, keeping communication with crew members and the fiber supervisor are essential. All coax splicers will have a professional attitude and appearance.
•Read and interpret documents in the form of work orders, including (but not limited to) strand maps, PDF prints, Bentley prints, and any other CATV/fiber related document. Provide daily pay sheet and associated as built documentation at the end of each shift.
•A coax splicer is required to complete the following tasks.
oUnderstand, assemble, and install CATV active and passive equipment in OSP and ISP locations.
oWill construct risers using guard or conduit, including transfer of existing risers.
oInstalL conduit on buildings and install lockboxes.
oInstall pedestals
oInstall grounding devices including ground rods, wire, and associated hardware.
oTest and troubleshoot using an RF meter and multi-meter and provide pictures to proof new and retro splicing.
oMaintain and properly use all associated tooling.
oAdhere to NEC bonding and grounding requirements for armored fiber.
•The coax splicer needs to be prepared with all proper PPE and should consider safety as top priority on the job site.
