Pay

Hourly, nonexempt position with full benefits package including 401k, health, dental, vision, short-term disability, life insurance, and accident coverage.

Qualifications

• Prior experience with fiber splicing required • Repeated and frequent ability to lift, from floor to above head 25 lbs continuously • Work in all environmental conditions - exposure to heat, cold, dust, wet, vibration and very loud noise • Demonstrate a good understanding of multiple OSP/ISP splice enclosure manufacturers • Advanced cable prep/single and mass fusion splicing and termination abilities • Strong ability to work with others and train junior technicians

Other Requirements

• Travel is required - must be flexible to work in multiple locations, nights, and weekends, as well as on-call • Must be at least 18 years of age.

Job Description

The Field Fiber Splicer plays a vital role in ensuring quality and timely deliveries of our fiber services along with additional services to customers, while delivering exceptional internal and external customer service.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
• Read and interpret documents in the form of work orders, including but not limited to strand maps, PDF prints, and any other CATV/fiber related document.
• Complete daily paperwork and associated as built documentation at the end of each shift.
• Finish work on jobs after aerial and underground placement is complete.
• Determine path from the outside plant to termination.
• Construct conduit paths externally and internally at buildings.
• Placing fiber/coax in conduit including using rodders, vacs, strings, and/or ropes.
• Construction or transfer risers using guards or conduit.
• Mounting aerial attachments and lock boxes.
• Construction aerial spans of strand and coax or fiber.
• May be required to complete coax/fiber splicing if experienced in either.
• Install and hang drops.
• Install/wreck out power supplies.
• Use of drills, cutting tools, and hand tools.
• Demonstrate a good understanding of multiple OSP/ISP splice enclosure manufacturers.
• Advanced cable prep/single and mass fusion splicing and termination abilities.
• Strong ability to work with others and train more junior technicians.
• Basic crew/project management abilities and responsibilities.
• Possess excellent fiber optic test and troubleshooting abilities to include fiber characterization, iOLM and advanced documentation and deliverable responsibilities.
• Basic understanding of/ability to negotiate ARC/GIS, Telvent and Trimble software.
