Job Description

Job Description and Responsibilities :
This position is responsible for the installation of racks, equipment, and structured cabling systems in Data Center / Hub environment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES



Perform a pre-engineering checklist as required by the customer

Install relay and/or four post rack on a concrete or raised floor

Mount small, medium and/or large passive and active shelves in rack system

Install all slot cards as required per network engineering

Physically install CAT6/6a, fiber optic, fiber duct and other low voltage cabling systems

Terminate, assemble and install coaxial connectors, fiber optic connectors and various other connectors

Diagnose and correct copper and optical fiber problems

Install cabling support systems including ladder racks, cable trays and J-Hooks - overhead and under raised floor

Install equipment grounding and bonding systems as per standards including master station ground

Perform site surveys, read and use blueprints and floor plans, and conduct visual site inspections

Perform cable splices for copper and optical fiber (mechanical and fusion)

Provide closeout document as outline in the New Equipment Acceptance Testing (NEAT)

Maintain safe work environment by following codes, standards, and legal regulations

Perform any other related duties as required or assigned

Requirements :
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
High school or equivalent; plus 12 months related experience and/or training field related to installation of racks, equipment and structured cabling systems. Or equivalent combination of education and experience.


USE OF MACHINES, EQUIPMENT AND/OR COMPUTERS


Regular use of complex machines and equipment such as electric drills, power hand tools, cable testing equipment such as Fluke DTX1800, and portable label makers such as Brady, P-Touch, Dymo, etc.

REQUIRED CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Basic knowledge of LAN/WAN topologies and cabling standards

PREFERRED CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Electrical experience preferred, but not required

SOFTWARE SKILLS REQUIRED
Word Processing/Typing and the ability to work on any equipment manufacture proprietary software


ADDITIONAL SKILLS
Must be able to pass pre-employment screening that includes background and drug testing, must have a valid driver’s license and a driving record that meets Company requirements, ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment, and may be required to work long and unpredictable hours including days, nights, and weekends.

PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES
While performing the functions of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms, talk or hear; frequently required to climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; as well as climb 18 feet ladder.

The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision.
