NX UTILITIES' construction roots go deep, over thirteen years in the Telecom and Utility Construction Industry, with a large and diverse customer base reaching from coast to coast. Our six divisional offices support operations in most major markets in our North American Foot-print.


Job Description and Responsibilities :
Produces fiber optic designs and modifications by studying project objectives; researching and developing fiber optic engineering techniques and approaches; validating designs, and supporting project implementation.

Primary Responsibilities:
Designs and drafts Greenfield/Joint Trench requests using both Node+0 and 4 design specs

Designs and Drafts Metro-E requests using 1 Fiber Solutions and Muxing design specs

Designs and Drafts various BAU requests (SMB,SFU,MDU, Forced Relocates, ect..) as assigned

Designs and drafts construction prints, permits and support documents in various formats

Documents as-build updates for project reconciliation

Plans and executes Node Segmentations and Cascade Reductions as directed

Review Design considerations for both short term and long term needs in relationship to node sizing, powering, and addressing

Draw accurate RF and Fiber routing conclusions that reflect cost estimate for the availability request using Google Earth and Customer Records

Establish and maintain effective communications and professional working relationships in order to collaborate on and troubleshoot any issues

Plan and schedule projects with in-house Engineers and Drafters

Other duties as assigned

Requirements :
Education:
Associates degree and 1-3 years' experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience

Experience:
Ability to read and interpret utility engineering drawings and plans

Advanced understanding of copper, fiber and/or CATV design standards and requirements

Knowledge of fiber network design





Technical Skills:



Advanced CAD skillset

Spatialnet experience preferred but not required

Working knowledge of city and map reading

Computer and Microsoft Office proficiency, including use of graphics, word processing, and electronic spreadsheet applications





Soft Skills:



Ability to multi-task and work in a fast paced environment

Strong organizational, interpersonal ,verbal and written communication skills

Excellent analytical reporting skills

Highly organized and detail orientated





Physical Requirements:



Must be able to pass pre-employment screening that includes background and drug testing

Individuals must have a valid driver's license and driving record meeting the company policy conditions

Working on a computer for 6-8 hours a day

Sitting at a desk for 6-8 hours a day
