Qualifications
Direct on-the-job experience with installation, termination, splicing, testing, certification and documentation of fiber optic cabling and associated infrastructure
A high school diploma, or equivalent
Good problem solving and analytical ability
Good organizational skills and attention to details
Clean driving record
Other Requirements
Ability to perform aerial vehicle operations.
Ability to communicate effectively with others
Ability to differentiate between different sizes and colors of wires/cable
Job Description
Knowledge of how to fusion splice both loose tube and ribbon fiber optic cables. Know how to place a mid-sheath
Knowledge of electronics and electrical wiring theory, principles, and practices.
Knowledge of electrical and electronic repair practices.
Knowledge of electronic and electrical safety standards, policies, and procedures.
Knowledge of reading schematics, blue prints, and wiring diagrams.
Knowledge of interpreting the Corporate safety manual, the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices, and the National Electric Code.
Knowledge of mathematical computations.
Knowledge of using testing and detection instruments and devices.
Knowledge of using hand and power tools.
Knowledge of using various test equipment to diagnose and troubleshoot communications equipment malfunctions.
Knowledge of detecting and locating underground utilities.
Knowledge of using a multi-meter to measure resistance, current, and voltage.
Knowledge of using a personal computer to operate software applications.
Skill in using standard fiber optic preparation and splicing equipment , and OTDRs
