Job Description and Responsibilities :
The Operator 3 is responsible for running a variety of equipment related to underground construction in accordance with company policies and safety related procedures.
Primary Responsibilities:
-Directional drill operation with 2020 and 3020 machines
-Operate large trenchers (115) and plows
-Directional drill operation on 15,000lb. machines and under, backhoe, trencher, and/or plow
-Proficient in mud mixing, bore gel and locating
-Operates mini excavator, skid steer, and drop trench machinery
-Responsible for equipment maintenance per service requirements and safety guidelines
-Organization of materials and other resources is necessary to complete excavation requirements, which may include basic hand tools
-Ensure Company assets are properly and continuously maintained in good repair and secured in a safe manner
-Maintain customer rapport by listening to and resolving concerns as well as answering questions
-Maintain safe work environment by following codes, standards, and legal regulations
Requirements :
Education:
High school diploma or G.E.D. certificate plus 1+ years’ experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
Experience:
-1-2 years’ experience drilling in both standard and high-risk areas, such as areas with live utilities
-1-2 years’ experience as a locator
-Knowledge of highway traffic control standards
-Knowledge of health and safety regulations, practices and procedures
Technical Skills:
-Ability to read and understand blue prints
-Knowledge of utility depths and placement
-Knowledge of reading and interpreting AT&T and/or CATV design prints
-CDL Required
Soft Skills:
-Highly organized and detail orientated
-Ability to detect errors, determine causes, and make corrections as appropriate
-Ability to multi-task and work in a fast paced environment
-Ability to comprehend, process and apply both verbal and written skills appropriate to the job
Physical Requirements:
-Must be able to pass pre-employment screening that includes background and drug testing
-Individuals must have a valid driver’s license and driving record meeting the company policy conditions
-Must be in good physical condition with the ability to stoop, crawl, bend at the knees and waist, squat and lift 50 lbs; includes body weight, equipment, tools and boxes
-Ability to work in confined spaces (e. g. attics, crawl spaces, utility holes)
-Must be able to stand for long periods of time on varied surfaces
-May be required to work long and unpredictable hours
-Position requires working outdoors in all types of weather
