Job Description
The position of CATV Field Surveyor is responsible for completing field surveys for expansion or reinforcement of outside plant facilities in our client’s service area by completing a workbook and providing sketch of necessary work to be performed. The documentation gathered in the process will ensure proper project financing and permitting, therefore must be accurate and detailed.
DUTIES:
• The CATV Field Surveyor will prepare survey workbook, hand drawn print, or use computer programs that will be used to provide labor and materials cost estimates, design, and permitting support for commercial and residential business lines.
• CATV Field Surveyor must have knowledge of aerial, buried, underground and building entrance design.
• CATV Field Surveyor will support the design and engineering process by planning and preparing drawings for construction of new, and removal or rearrangement of existing coax and fiber optic cables, and conduits to obtain optimum and economical utilization of communications facilities.
• CATV Field Surveyor must be able to read and understand highway/road prints, be able to identify conflicts with existing outside plant facilities, and select routing required for work projects.
• Further duties will include but are not limited to: bore design, make-ready analysis, field notes, pole survey, sonde conduit, locating, QC prints, preparation of prints, and maintains power company pole attachment and detachment counts.
• Prepare drawings and layouts for engineering using mapping, data, and spreadsheet for use in planning construction and/or installation of telecommunications equipment.
• Keeps abreast of new technologies and techniques to be applied to design and build of Outside Plant Facilities, promote a positive image of the company to customers, co-workers, contractors, management, and others.

• Ability to travel/overnight from time to time.
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
• A minimum of 3 years of CATV outside Plant(OSP)and internal wiring experience is a must.
• Familiarity with Engineering and Construction Practices.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, and other telecommunication software.
• Knowledge of job costing procedures.
• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Engineering experience and/or training preferred.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to track, prioritize, and complete multiple projects simultaneously.
• Problem solving and decision making skills.
• Analytical and research skills.
• Accuracy and attention to detail are a must.
• Ability to meet deadlines and work with others in a Team environment.
• Thorough knowledge of accepted telecommunication engineering practices.
• Thorough knowledge of aerial and buried cable placement and splicing methods, copper and fiber.
