Requirements: Technical two-year degree or four years of military experience in electronics or telecommunications. 4+ years of industry experience in a field tech, engineering, or operations capacity. Prior experience in the telecommunications, military electronics, and/or data networking industry. Prior experience successfully managing external customer relationships. Must have inventory management experience. Must have own vehicle, and own hand tools, testing equipment is provided.

Other Requirements

Abilities and Skills: Knowledge of the technical aspects of wireline, microwave, data, and fiber optic networks standards. Knowledge of Trouble Ticket software, Network Management software, Word, Excel, and Microsoft Project programs Knowledge of Fiber optic, IP test methodology knowledge, operating/understanding OTDR test results, and Broadband Test Systems. Familiarity with ILEC telecommunications testing methods, IEEE RFC2544 Carrier Ethernet testing procedures and all associated equipment.

Job Description

About the Role:

The Field Operations Technician will be responsible for surveillance, installation, circuit test/acceptance and network outage repair for the deployed production transport and IP/Ethernet.

Responsibilities:

Work closely with NOC, OSP, EngEngineering, and customers to ensure maximum network operation, integrity, and availability.
Work closely with customer and provider fault management teams to ensure efficient problem resolution.
Perform ( TnT ) test and turn-up of DS1 to OC192/10GigE circuits, DWDM Waves, Ethernet over copper circuits to 40Mbps, Ethernet over DS0 to DS3 solutions, Ethernet over Sonet to a GigE, 100GigE carrier services including direct customer interface.
Configure and troubleshoot routers, switches, and Ethernet CPE/NIU network elements.
Assist with new site turn up and development. Tasks may include resource planning, scheduling, and adherence to set deliverables.
Provide field support for new construction in the following areas: on site supervision, equipment delivery coordination, equipment installation, turn-up, and optimization.
Coordinate or perform maintenance of sites which involves the emergency generator, batteries/power equipment, the AC units, loclocks, and fences, coax/fiber cabling, batteries, high voltage systems, and etc.
Maintain optic transport equipment, circuits, and facilities by routine or fault testing and repairing as needed.
Assist where needed to identify customer system and equipment problems.
Determine the cause of equipment failure using various types of complex test equipment.
Ensure market compliance with accepted maintenance procedures and policies.
Ensure compliance with written operating plans and procedures, company policies, labor laws, and OSHA, FAA, DOT, and Hazardous Materials.
Provide support for customer complaints, suggestions, and concerns.
Perform additional other duties as assigned for service delivery execution.
