Job Description

Mi-Tech is a communications contractor with a current opening for an OSP Fiber Optic Splicer. We have built a solid reputation in the industry by putting safety at the forefront of all of the work we do and by maintaining excellent attention to detail. We recognize that our success is dependent on teamwork and finding the best talent in the industry.

Job Duties:

Reading splice diagrams, prints, and engineering documents either in paper or electronic format
Prepping splice locations, termination points, and installing of splice closures
Splicing of loose tube and ribbon cables of various sizes.
Testing and troubleshooting fiber optic networks for acceptance and trouble identification including experience with OTDRs and Power Meters

Requirements:

Preferred Skill Set:

Experience in the utility industry, specifically in telecommunications, CATV, or power distribution
Minimum of 1 to 2 years of experience as an OSP Fiber Optic Splicer
Experience working with Core Alignment Single Fiber Splicers and Ribbon Splicers
Experience with FTTX projects is a plus
Experience with OPGW projects is a plus
Experience working with EXFO test equipment
Experience in a variety of applications from manholes, hand hole, and aerial locations

While experience with one or more of the skill sets is preferred, Mi-Tech is willing to train the right candidate for the position.
