Field Supervisor – Broadband Services

Internal applicants must meet the following 3 criteria to be eligible for consideration, NO exceptions:
1. 6+ months’ experience with progressively increasing management duties for ITC Service Group
2. Must be in good standing (no formal warnings) for the past 6 months
3. Must have record of performing consistently above expectations on metrics
AND/OR
Additional consideration will be given to applicants with education, certifications or work experience (knowledge, skills and abilities) “KSA”s that exceed key competencies required for the position.


GENERAL OVERVIEW

Responsible for supervising a Broadband team (Drop, Installation, Repair on voice, video, and data) for our business in various location in Iowa. This position is also responsible for managing work performance, meeting company objectives and improving the quality of service provided by team and the resolution or escalation of issues. The Field Supervisor is also responsible for maintaining the daily performance goals of the broadband project. You will evaluate workmanship and quality, ensuring the project schedule is met, review any plan discrepancies in the field, coordinate activities between ITC’s client and employees and resolve any disputes which may arise on the job site.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Develop/train Broadband technicians; ensure that each technician knows how to perform each step of the installation, splicing process according to company standards.
Identify best practices, techniques and processes and communicate to technicians in a professional manner.
Plan and establish with manager work quantities and future work quota allocations; assign daily work to technicians, manage schedules and accurately review work orders for completion and processing by other departments as needed.
Support and motivate technicians by continually training and monitoring progress and training schedules. In conjunction with Manager, perform and conduct annual performance reviews.
Review Broadband Technician’s quality of work, and provide feedback to technicians and management; ensure that quality issues are addressed and that best practices are maintained.
Provide an ongoing open communication line with team to include coaching, mentoring, and career development on a daily, weekly and monthly basis.
Provide written and field assessments, with a focus on meeting/exceeding ITC’s client expectations.
Coordinate all project activities to achieve quality, schedule and cost objectives.
Conduct project activities in compliance with state regulations, laws, and ITC’s processes and procedures and verify the proper training of technicians per project standards; monitor compliance with all appropriate safety regulations.
Responsible for enforcing ITC’s policies at project locations; ensure that where necessary, company policies are adapted to local conditions to encourage responsiveness to customer requirements and to the field environment.
Provide complete reporting mechanism to upper management and client; report regularly to management on the status of projects, highlighting problem areas and recommending solutions.
Manage projects at a field level and interface with ITC staff and ITC’s client in a safe and professional manner.
Analyze operations and performance to assure operational efficiencies through productivity and QC.
Work with ITC’s client when necessary to maintain an in-depth technical knowledge of new technology being deployed.
Conduct training with technicians as necessary; verifies personnel’s understanding of installation/ splicing procedures.
Consult on broadband project ensuring the smoothest project flow; provide project problem solving assistance.
Verify and maintain adherence to the installation/repair plans, standards and specifications.
Coordinate all broadband changes per ITC direction or ITC’s client and reports all broadband progress to Project Manager.
Monitor all broadband activities and reports daily crew activities and productivity to manager.
Approve and/or order all associated materials and rental equipment for the project; monitor materials and equipment movement.
Conduct vehicle inspections.
Conduct daily informative meetings and safety tailgate meetings with staff.
Accumulate documents for weekly reporting including timesheets and client’s external reporting requirements.
Prepare damage/ incident reports.
Responsible for following all OSHA rules and regulations and ensuring all broadband technicians are instructed in safe practices.
Responsible for following Worker’s Comp processes and guidelines set up by ITC management.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Work involves standing, talking, hearing, using hands to finger, handle, feel or operate objects, tools, or controls and reaching with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to walk, sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl and smell for extended periods of time.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

The employee must frequently push, pull, lift and/or carry up to 50 pounds and occasionally push, pull, lift and/or carry up to 100 pounds.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works in inclement weather conditions. The employee frequently works near moving mechanical parts and is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and vibration. The employee occasionally works in high, precarious places and is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and risk of electrical shock.

ATTENDANCE

Employee is expected to be on the job and on time every scheduled workday. Broadband Supervisor work hours can change from day to day. It is his/her responsibility to know when the work day starts. and ends on each scheduled work day. If it is necessary that you will be absent or late for any reason, employee needs to call a direct manager by 8:00 am on the first and each subsequent day the employee will be absent or late. If employee is absent for more than 3 days a doctor’s note (explanation) is required.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

AA degree in telecommunications, construction management or related field.
Experience and working knowledge of POTS, Video and Broadband services utilizing Fiber and copper as means of transport
5 years’ experience in the telecom industry, with a minimum of 2 years in a successful supervisory capacity.
Experience and working knowledge of emerging and advanced communications technology.
Knowledge of supervisory techniques and tools.
Must have a valid Driver’s license.
Must have solid knowledge of electrical codes and standards relative to residential or commercial communications.
Must have solid knowledge of home construction and the installation of communications systems.
